
Martez Wilson was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 2011 NFL Draft in the 3rd Round (72nd pick overall). Wilson earned first team All-Big Ten honors by the media for his effort on the field during the 2010 campaign. He led Illinois and ranked fourth in the Big Ten in tackles (112) and also added 11.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, three forced fumbles, four quarterback hurries, four pass breakups, an interception, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick. Wilson led the Illini to their first bowl win since 1999 with seven tackles, including one TFL, in Illinois' 38-14 victory over Baylor in the 2010 Texas Bowl.
2011 – Appeared in 13 games with one start and recorded eight tackles (five solo) and one sack for a 16-yard loss, adding 11 special teams tackles…Appeared in both postseason contests with one start and recorded four tackles (two solo), 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble…Received first career start at SLB vs. Houston, Sept. 25 and added one tackle and one special teams stop...Inactive for games 4-5 (shoulder injury)….Recorded one solo tackle and career-high four special teams stops at Tennessee, Dec. 11…In finale vs. Carolina, 1/1/12, recorded first sack of his career for a 16-yard loss, added one solo tackle and made two special teams stops…Started in NFC Wild Card Playoff vs. Detroit, 1/7/12 and made on tackle…In NFC Divisional Playoff at San Francisco, 1/14/12, set postseason-highs with three tackles (two solo), a forced fumble and 1.5 sacks.
The Martez Wilson Foundation will hold their Inaugural Football/Cheerleading camp on June 22nd & June 23rd of 2012 in assoociation with the YMCA in Chicago, Illinois.
